What are our judges looking for?
Vivid, imaginative language that draws the reader into the piece
Images and sensory language
Scenes and dialogue
Content that goes to the heart of what it means to be human
What do we see too much of?
Love poems (though we like love if done well)
Religious poems (though spiritual/religious poems can be done well)
Poems that "tell about" rather than provide an experience for the reader
Stories that open with the main character waking up in the morning
Essays that preach rather than argue or tell a story
What is the COVER LETTER asked for in the system here?
Just type "TCC NE Student" in there. We don't use cover letters.
